God’s wisdom, revealed in and through the person of Jesus, is gifted to those who seek Him.
Rom. 16:27; 1Cor. 1:24; Col. 2:2-3; Pr. 9:10
The daily decisions of life require more than mathematical understanding. Christian teachers need to model a biblical framework from which to shape wisdom-thinking and faithfully pass this onto the next generation.
The goal is not knowledge…
The goal is wisdom!
“The person and work of Jesus provide us with the only reliable basis for understanding ourselves, our experience, and the world.
Within… (Him) we must seek to make our decisions as responsible human beings”
Goldsworthy, 2011 p. 343
Wisdom was present with God during the act of creation (Pr. 8:22–31). God’s wisdom is infinite, all-encompassing, and inseparable from His character. It points towards Jesus, who displayed in fullness the wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:30; Revelation 5:12) and encompasses every aspect of life, including that of education. As we seek wisdom, we draw closer to understanding the heart and mind of our Creator.
Learning takes place best within the context of a heart committed to Jesus Christ. It is only through Jesus that humans can fully understand what it means to ‘fear the Lord’. As students “work out their salvation with fear and trembling” (Philippians 2:12 NIV) and allow the Holy Spirit to transform their minds (Romans 12:2), they will acquire genuine knowledge and wisdom.
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding”
Proverbs 9:10
