Students conduct a survey to investigate how much time they spend on screens and the nature of what they are doing during that time. They can research what is recommended, reflect personally, and discuss their findings with their family.
For instance, students can think about whether they use screens to connect with and encourage friendships or pursue creative pursuits by creating helpful videos. Alternatively, screens may cause friction at home; they may become obsessive about private gaming rather than interacting with family; or they may have experienced online bullying.
This allows students to meet the lifelong learning outcomes contained in the unit outline.
